Founder, President and Research Director
Dr. Tien has been developing both software and hardware to accelerate health research and clinical care processes since 1987. He conceived of and continues to lead a number of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects that address:
- psychometrics and the assessment of symptoms
- diagnostic and treatment logic
- indexed digital recording and playback
- data management
- social network data collection
- graph visualization
- multi-level integration of genetic and phenotype data
- clinical workflow
- patient education
- the translation of computer science research from application to knowledge representation
- adaptive workflow
- decision support in the health domain
These efforts have supported the business development of mdlogix with more than $5 million in SBIR grants and contracts since 1998. Dr. Tien has overseen the transformation and continuing evolution of mdlogix from a research and development organization to a service-oriented company with major enterprise clients in the biomedical research sector.
